IUSPA Journal Selection 2010: Timeline

Monday, September 13th: IUSPA General Assembly; election schedule/positions announced.

Friday, October 1st: Co-Editor applications due by 5:00pm (see below for more information. Email as attachments to Mark Houlemarde.

Friday, October 8th: Co-Editor selected and offered position.

Monday, November 8th, 8:30pm: IUSPA 2010-2011 Executive Board announced.

Monday, November 15th, 8:30pm: IUSPA Transition Meeting.

IUSPA Co-Editor Description
• Oversee the design, production, and distribution of the Journal
• Facilitate IUSPA Journal review board selection process and solicit IUSPA Journal submissions
• This is a 2-year commitment! The 1st year co-editor serves as the 2nd-year co editor the following year ☺

IUSPA Co-Editor Application
• 1-pg statement on applicant’s qualifications for and interest in serving as the co-editor
• Academic Writing Sample where applicant is the lone author (e.g. an issue paper)

IUSPA Review Board Member Selection Process
Review Board Members read, edit, and select the submissions to be included in the Journal

Monday, November 15th: Email Mark by 7pm if you are interested in serving on the Review Board

Monday, November 22nd, by 5:00 pm: Email Mark a short paragraph of no more than 300 words relaying why you would like to serve on the Review Board and why you would be a good choice.
Note: Newly-elected IUSPA Executive Board Members will not be able to serve on the Review Board.

Friday, November 26th: Notification to applicants on selection to serve on Review Board

Monday, September 13th: IUSPA General Assembly; election information distributed.

Friday, October 15th: Position preferences due to Joliana Yee (joyee@indiana.edu).

- In order to ensure that we have a full slate of candidates we are requesting that you send Joliana an email with your TOP THREE positions in rank order.

Friday, October 22nd: Candidate platforms due to Joliana by 9:00pm.

- Submit a platform of 250 words or less about why you are interested in your position.

- Outreach Candidates: Submit a platform of 400 words or less.

Wednesday, October 27th: Candidate platforms available online for viewing.

Wednesday, November 3rd, 12:00pm - Friday, November 5th, 5:00pm: Voting occurs online.

Monday, November 8th, 8:30pm: IUSPA 2010-2011 Executive Board announced.

Monday, November 15th, 8:30pm: IUSPA Transition Meeting.

*Note: The IUSPA Journal Co-Editor and Webmaster application processes differ from the general IUSPA election process. These positions are skills-based, thereby requiring a special application and/or interview.

Brown County State Park Picnic & Outing

Saturday, April 17 12pm – 4pm

Come spend the afternoon at beautiful Brown County State Park for hiking and fun in the sun! Bring your own picnic gear and enjoy nature with other HESA students. An invitation with more details & directions will be sent out a week prior via the HESA email listserve.

Election season for IUSPA Executive Board positions is upon us, which gives all of you first-year students a chance to seek opportunities for involvement in IUSPA! Please take a look at our timeline below to learn about the election/application process. IU School of Education New Graduate Student Orientation

All new students in the Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA) master's program are officially students in the IU School of Education. This orientation may be beneficial to any of the enrolled HESA students. You may find a pamphlet that explains the various sessions of the orientation by clicking here.

We hope you will be able to join us for good food and fun! All HESA students, faculty, assistantship providers, and practicum providers are invited. Significant others and children are also welcome. This will be a great opportunity to meet a variety of people who help make the HESA program what it is! This is a relaxed event so please come comfortable and ready to have a great time. ☺

The HESA program will provide vegetarian lasagna, Bar-B-Q Beef sandwiches, and bottled water. Please bring your favorite side dish, dessert, and/or beverage of choice to round out our offerings. If you need ideas, please refer to the categories below which are based on your last name.

A-I Salads: Potato salad, macaroni salad, broccoli salad, etc.
J-R Snacks: Popcorn, Chips and Salsa/Dip, Party Mix
S-Z Desserts: Cookies, Pie, Cake, etc.

Directions to Danielle and Martha's (from the School of Education):

Turn left onto E. 3rd Street.
Turn right onto College Mall Rd.
Follow College Mall Rd. for approximately 3 miles (the road changes to Sare Rd.).
Sare Rd will end at the intersection with Rhorer Rd.
Turn left onto Rhorer Rd. and go approximately one mile.
Turn right onto Gran Haven Dr. (The entrance to the development has two stone markers labeled "Gran Haven Estates").
Danielle & Martha's home is the second house on the left.

Parking: Please park along one side of the road to ensure that traffic can still go through the development.

NOTE: We plan to be outside for the majority of the party. However, Martha and Danielle have cats and dogs so if you are allergic you may want to take some allergy medicine prior to the potluck.
